Description
The D-S8M is a double-pitch timing belt profile commonly used in agricultural machinery and lawn tractors, as well as other industrial applications. The "D" stands for double, indicating that the belt has teeth on both sides.
"S8M" indicates the belt's profile and dimensions. The double-tooth design is the belt's most important feature. With teeth on both sides of the belt, a single belt can drive multiple pulleys, even in different directions of rotation. This enables compact and space-saving drive systems. The pitch between the teeth, measured along the belt's centerline, is 8 mm, the overall belt height is 7.5 mm, and the profile height is 3.05 mm. The tooth profile is typically similar to the STD (Super Torque Drive) or HTD profile, meaning a curved tooth shape. This curved shape ensures optimized tooth connection, resulting in more even load distribution and quieter operation, even at higher speeds. It is typically made of neoprene rubber with fiberglass reinforcement. The fiberglass reinforcement ensures high tensile strength and minimal elongation. Widths can vary, with the most common sizes being 20, 30, 50, and 85 mm.
